Terms of Service

Thank you for using the Activity Engine! Wren Education, Inc. ("Wren Education," "we," "us," or "our") provides K-12 educators with an AI-powered platform ("Activity Engine" or "Service") that helps you create mathematics curriculum materials including Google Docs, Google Slides, and Desmos graphs.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Service. By creating an account, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. The Service is available on a paid subscription basis. If you participated in our pilot program, these Terms replace your prior Pilot Program Terms of Service.

These Terms take effect when you create an account and continue until you terminate your account or we end the Service. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service, or modify these Terms, at any time. We will provide at least 7 days' advance notice of material changes. All changes are effective when we post them. Your continued use of the Service following the posting of revised Terms means that you accept and agree to the changes.

Following the pilot phase, the Service will transition to a paid model. We will provide at least 7 days' advance notice before any fees are charged to pilot participants. Your continued use of the Service after that notice period constitutes your agreement to the applicable fees.

The Activity Engine is designed for K-12 educators, including teachers, administrators, and instructional coaches. You must be at least 18 years old and use a Google Account to create your Wren Education account. Students do not interact directly with the Activity Engine.

Your account is for your professional educational use only. You may not share your account credentials or allow others to use your account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account.

Geographic Restrictions: The Service is controlled and operated from the United States and is primarily designed for educators in the United States using US education standards. We make no representation that the Service is appropriate, compliant, or available for use in other locations. If you access or use the Service from outside the United States, you do so on your own initiative and are responsible for compliance with local laws.

The Activity Engine integrates with your Google Workspace account (Google Drive and Google Classroom) to create and organize educational materials. By using the Service, you grant Wren Education permission to:

Google Drive:

  1. Create and modify these Google Docs, Slides, and folders within your Google Drive
  2. Upload, organize, download and delete these files
  3. Upload images (such as Desmos graphs) to your Google Drive
  4. Manage permissions on files created by Wren Education to facilitate sharing

We only access files created by the Activity Engine or files you explicitly direct us to access. We do not scan or access your other Google Drive files. Files created in your Google Drive remain in your control and are subject to your own retention and deletion practices. If you cancel your subscription, files previously saved to your Google Drive will remain in your Drive and are unaffected by cancellation.

Google Classroom:

  1. List your active courses to allow you to select where to post materials
  2. Create new coursework materials and attach documents created by the Activity Engine

We do not access student rosters, grades, or other student data within your Google Classroom.

IMPORTANT: The Activity Engine uses artificial intelligence to generate educational content. AI is a powerful tool to support your work, but it does not replace your professional judgment and expertise.

Use the "80-20 Approach": View AI-generated content as a strong starting point (roughly 80% complete) that you must review, customize, and finalize with your professional expertise (the final 20%). Always review generated materials before using them with students.

Before using any materials generated by the Activity Engine with students, you are responsible for:

  1. Checking for accuracy and bias. AI can occasionally produce biased, fictitious, or incorrect content. Always verify facts, check for cultural sensitivity, and ensure content is appropriate for your students.
  2. Understanding AI limitations. The AI's training data has a knowledge cutoff, so it may not reflect the most recent developments in mathematics education or curriculum standards.
  3. Meeting curriculum standards. You must ensure all materials align with your school's curriculum requirements, learning standards, and educational goals.
  4. Age-appropriateness. Review all generated content to confirm it is suitable for your students' grade level and developmental stage.

All information we collect through the Service is subject to our Privacy Policy. By using the Service, you agree that your inputs and generated outputs may be analyzed to improve our AI models and service quality.

By using the Service, you consent to all actions taken by us with respect to your information in compliance with the Privacy Policy.

Wren Education does not collect, store, or process student data. Students do not interact directly with the Activity Engine. However, you must not include personally identifiable information about students (such as names, addresses, student IDs, or other identifying information) in the prompts or inputs you provide to the Service.

If you include student personally identifiable information in your inputs, you may be violating FERPA, your school's policies, and applicable law. Such violations may result in suspension or termination of your account.

You may not use the Service to:

  1. Violate any applicable laws, regulations, or school policies
  2. Create harmful, fraudulent, deceptive, threatening, harassing, or inappropriate content
  3. Infringe on intellectual property rights or privacy rights of others
  4. Share your account credentials or allow unauthorized access to your account
  5. Sell, license, or commercially distribute materials generated by the Service (including on teacher marketplaces such as Teachers Pay Teachers) without our prior written consent
  6. Post or distribute materials generated by the Service to public platforms in a manner designed to circumvent the need for others to use the Service
  7. Use automated systems, bots, or scripts to access the Service or scrape content from the Website
  8. Generate materials in bulk, whether through automated means or repeated manual use designed to stockpile content
  9. Develop competing products or reverse-engineer our templates, prompts, or AI processes
  10. Impersonate Wren Education, our employees, or other users
  11. Attempt to access, interfere with, damage, or disrupt the Service, our servers, or our security systems, including through viruses, malware, or attacks

Violation of these Acceptable Use guidelines may result in immediate termination of your access to the Service.

Our Platform: Wren Education retains all rights, title, and interest in the Activity Engine, including its code, design, and AI processes.

Your Content: You retain ownership of the activities, materials, and content you create using the Service. However, you grant Wren Education a license to use your inputs and the generated outputs to improve the Activity Engine and develop our products and services. This license continues even after you terminate your account.

Attribution: Materials generated by the Service may contain a footer or attribution stating "© Wren Education." While we include this attribution for branding purposes, you may modify or remove it as needed for your classroom use.

Wren Education provides a self-hosted Community Platform (the "Community") for educators to discuss curriculum, share ideas, and provide feedback.

Access via SSO: Your Wren Education account automatically provides access to the Community via Single Sign-On (SSO). When you first access the Community, our system utilizes your existing account credentials (name, email, and profile image) to seamlessly provision your community profile.

Community Guidelines: Your use of the Community is subject to these Terms, including the Acceptable Use guidelines in Section 7. We reserve the right to moderate content, remove posts, or suspend Community access for violations of these Terms or for conduct that we determine is harmful to the community environment.

Public Nature of Contributions: Content you post to the Community is visible to other authorized members. You are responsible for the content you post and must not include personally identifiable student information or sensitive personal data in your contributions.

Ownership and License: You retain ownership of the content you post to the Community. However, by posting, you grant Wren Education a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, modify, and distribute your contributions to improve our Services and for educational and promotional purposes.

The Activity Engine uses the Desmos API for graphing functionalities. Your use of graphs generated via Desmos is subject to the Desmos Terms of Service. Desmos and related trademarks are property of Desmos Studio PBC. The Service also relies on Google APIs, and your use is subject to Google's Terms of Service. We are not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of these third-party services.

Wren Education offers paid plans for the Service. Plan types, features, and applicable fees will be presented to you at the time of purchase or subscription. We reserve the right to modify our pricing with advance notice, and any fee changes will take effect at the end of your current billing period.

Payment Processing. We use Stripe, Inc. ("Stripe") as our third-party payment processor. By subscribing to a paid plan, you authorize us and Stripe to charge the applicable fees to your designated payment method. You agree to be bound by Stripe's Services Agreement.

Payment Data. Wren Education does not store your full credit card number, expiration date, or CVC code on our servers. Your payment data is securely transmitted to and stored by Stripe. We retain only a unique customer identifier and information about your subscription status (e.g., active, cancelled, expiration date) to manage your access to the Service.

Billing and Renewal. Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled prior to the start of the next billing period. We will notify you before your subscription automatically renews. You may manage or cancel your subscription at any time through the Customer Portal.

Refunds. We do not issue refunds for partial billing periods unless required by applicable law.

You may terminate your account at any time by removing Wren Education's access in your Google Account settings under "Third-party apps with account access." You may also request account deletion by emailing help@wrened.com. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.

If you cancel a paid subscription, your access to the Service will continue through the end of your current billing period. Activities and materials previously saved to your Google Drive will remain in your Drive and are unaffected by cancellation.

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service immediately if you violate these Terms or for any other reason at our discretion, with or without notice.

As-Is Service: The Activity Engine is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We make no warranties that the Service will be error-free, uninterrupted, or secure.

No Educational Guarantees: Wren Education makes no warranties regarding the educational accuracy, effectiveness, or appropriateness of AI-generated content. You are solely responsible for reviewing and verifying all materials before classroom use.

Limitation of Liability: To the fullest extent permitted by law, Wren Education shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to loss of data, lost time, or educational outcomes. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the three months preceding the claim.

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the State of California without regard to conflicts of law provisions.

If you have questions about these Terms, please contact us at help@wrened.com.

Thank you for using the Activity Engine!
